onnor Johnson, a Campbell High School grad, is going places. His musical talent most recently took
him to the America’s Got Talent stage. Johnson auditioned for America’s Got Talent’s season 17, which aired on nation- al television June 28. He first sang Forever by Lewis Capaldi, but judge Simon Cowell stopped and asked him to perform a differ- ent song. Johnson then chose to perform a rendition of Latch by Disclosure featuring
Sam Smith.
“I know a lot of people weren’t stoked Si-
mon stopped me, but it’s for good reason,” states the 23-year-old McCully resident. “You have like one minute 30 seconds to wow the judges.”
Changing up his tune, Johnson received a standing ovation and gained all four judges’ approval to move on to the next round of the competition.
“Playing on that stage was incredible,” he notes. “That’s the biggest stage I’ve played to so far. I know the importance of trying to
