   The results are in for Kupu and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation’s Hawaiʻi Youth Sus- tainability Challenge, during which 18 student teams presented solutions to con- servation and sustainability challenges in their communities.
Kapolei High School, meanwhile, had two teams enter: One that aspires to in- crease the energy productivity of exist- ing solar panels, while the other focuses on tackling, reviving and saving existing forests in Palēhua, which is overtaken by invasive plants and animals.

“Getting to work on real-world prob- lems rather than just classes has great- ly benefitted my learning as a student,” states HTA student Caden Brown. “Over the course of my project, I have developed many practical skills like grant writing, public speaking, computer-aided design and fabrication. Additionally, through the training sessions, I learned a lot about en- trepreneurship and starting a business.”
