That’s what Shalain M., Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i’s 2018 State Youth of the Year, said about her experience. Her story is just one of thousands from our next generation of leaders, changemakers and inno- vators who pass through the club- house doors.

growing economic challenges fac- ing our community, more parents are reaching out to their local Boys & Girls Club for support.

feel like I was living; it felt more like I was trying to survive. Spald- ing Clubhouse accepted me for my broken self, and I started to feel like my wings were healing and that I was growing. In the future, I will be somebody great.”
Boys & Girls Club established its first Hawai‘i clubhouse in 1976 to give keiki a positive alternative to being left unsupervised after school. Great Futures Day culmi- nates on May 24 and every dona- tion allows Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i to help those who need us most. Every child deserves their next great moment, and we can only empower our youth to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens with your support.
For more than 16,000 local kids, Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i is a safe place to go after school, where

The need in our community is real. Ninety-six percent of the youth we serve come from families facing financial challenges. One in 5 youth in Hawai‘i will not gradu- ate on time with their class. With
