Dog lovers who are also keen on cursing can look forward to Strays, an R-rated live-action com- edy about — you guessed it — stray dogs, this summer. Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Isla Fisher and Randall Park voice the real dogs in the fifilm. Meanwhile, this former Saturday Night Live cast member who was once “the last man on Earth” is seen on screen.
Channing Tatum returns to the big screen this week in Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Billed as the fifinal chapter of the franchise, it was fifilmed in London and also stars Salma Hayek Pinault. But drawing just as much attention is news that Tatum has acquired the rights to the 1990 film Ghost (yes, there are talks of a re-make), which starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and this actress now best known as a daytime television personality.
Naomi Ackie has landed a starring role in sci-fi film Morning, which starts shooting in Germany later this year. Set in the future where society has a pill that does away with the need for sleep, the added help of an artificial sun means there’s no end to morning daylight. The movie features Noah Jupe, Benedict Cumberbatch and this blonde actress
who starred in TV drama Big Little Lies and played Ellie Sattler in the Jurassic Park movies.
Twenty-one years ago, the film Queen of the Damned was released. This was six months after its lead actress, Princess of R&B singer Aaliyah, died in a plane crash at just 22. The Queen of Urban Pop made her motion picture debut in this action movie with Li Lianjie (better known by his stage name Jet Li).
