Twenty years ago this week, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey had audiences chuckling with the release of the romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Hudson played a magazine editor out to prove she could get a guy to dump her in 10 days. McConaughey was an ad exec who bet his friends he could get a woman to fall in love with him in 10 days. There’s no scientific proof that laughter will make you richer in the material realm. But research indicates those who laugh often tend to be happier. Laughter also elevates the mood, lowers stress and blood pressure, and strengthens the immune system, all of which contributes to a longer and more fulfilling life in general — and you can’t put a price on that.
