Gimme a Break was born from my own role in and out of caregiving for my child, employees, friends, rela- tionships and, more recently, both my parents. I am still in a caregiving role with my part- ner, who is managing cancer, and my mother-in-law.
Our greatest challenge is to show caregivers they’ re worthy of pampering and for them to prioritize self-care. Our commitment to become a worldwide organization offering continued support for caregivers depends on donations. Every fundraising event helps us.
To create more awareness throughout November as part of National Family Caregiv- er Month, we are hosting our third annual Caregiver of the Year contest. The contest will be followed by our Caregiver of the Year awards gala and fundraiser. Celebrate caregiv- erswithusfrom6to9p.m. Dec. 3 at the Waikīkī Elks Lodge.

We at Gimme a Break are here to support, motivate, in- spire and provide respite to those who are always doing more for others.
