Established in 1938, March of Dimes is a nonprofit that leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We support research, lead programs, and provide education and advo- cacy so that every family can have the best possible start.
tinuous is our NICU family support program at Kapi‘ola- ni Medical Center for Women & Children. Our coordinator works closely with the fam- ilies to give them support during this difficult time. She provides education and gives families resources de- pendent on their needs at that time. From families that have gone through this expe- rience and have had March of Dimes’ support, they contin- ue to stay in touch with us and sometimes become Family Ambassadors or NICU Hall of Famers. There is nothing more thrilling than seeing a NICU baby graduate.
On Sept. 22, we celebrated
our first-ever Chef’s Feeding Motherhood Event to raise critical funds for all moms and babies. This inaugu- ral occasion paid tribute to the culinary excellence of a prominent chef’s cuisines that our attendees were able to enjoy. The honorees cel- ebrated that evening were philanthropist John Henry Felix and chef Roy Yamagu- chi; both have continuously made significant contribu- tions to Hawai‘i’s culinary and philanthropic domains. Our program also showcased our ambassador family, the Dowds, whose two children were in the NICU department and how the March of Dimes
was able to help them through their roughest journey.
This year has been a re- building year for the March of Dimes Hawai‘i Market.
With a brand-new team, we’ve aimed to create aware- ness about our mission and produce a local impact. Our main goal is to increase our partnerships so that we can drive our movement to help
moms and babies locally. It has been a great year being actively involved with or- ganizations and being in the community to discover how we can make a difference.

The March For Health Of Moms, Babies Goes On
Our organization began with President Franklin Roo- sevelt’s struggle with polio and how we pioneered the first-ever vaccine research. Since then, we have contin- ued our mission to help mil- lions of babies survive and thrive.

Helping the Dowds and other families is just one of the initiatives we strive to do locally. Currently, we have a part-time NICU fam- ily support program that we are hoping to make full-time next year. Along with that, we continue to educate best practices, support lifesaving research, and advocate for all moms and babies. Our work and efforts are made possi- ble by the generous support of our donors, partners and friends.
