Alan Arkin, Kathy Bates and Teyana Taylor have joined the cast of heist thriller The Smack. The fifilm, which starts shooting in Los Angeles this fall, is adapted from the novel by Richard Lange. The Smack follows a con man who has hit rock bottom and teams up with a hustler in an attempt to pull offff the biggest scam of their lives. Also on the movie’s call sheet is Marisa Tomei, Isabel May, Yul Vazquez and this actor who now has J.Lo as a sister-in-law.
This year’s Emmy winner for Outstanding Television Movie will surely bring on a flflood of nostalgia for ’90s kids: Chip ’n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, which debuted on Disney+ in May. The original cartoon series premiered back in 1989. Voicing the anthropomorphic chipmunks in this latest version were actor/stand-up comedian John Mulaney and this fellow Saturday Night Live alum, also known as detective Jake Peralta in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Co-created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, A League of Their Own is a TV adaption of the 1992 film of the same name. It follows a World War II-era women’s professional baseball team in Illinois. Jacobson also stars in the show. This project follows her five-season run
on Broad City, a sitcom about two inseparable besties played by Jacobson and this funny
Long Island gal, who are BFFs in real life.
Hotel Transylvania released this week over a decade ago and has since spawned three more movies and a TV series. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the animation features a variety of monsters voiced by actors such as Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James and Steve Buscemi. The film, however, centers around Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, and goes into overprotec- tive mode when a human boy discovers his resort and falls for his teenage daughter. Voicing Dracula is this American actor notoriously known for his comedies such as The Waterboy, Little Nicky and Big Daddy.
