Brandon Asuncion is president of outsourced accounting firm Accumulus, which specializes in nonprofits, health care and professional service companies. He brings 15 years of senior leadership in accounting, finance, financial planning and analysis to the role, and will oversee the firm’s day-to-day operations.
Dawn Takeuchi Apuna has been named acting director for the city’s Department of Planning and Permitting. She was previously the department’s deputy director. Prior to this role, she was deputy attorney general for the state of Hawai‘i , chief planner for Hawai‘i Public Housing Authority and deputy corporation council for the City & County of Honolulu.
Dr. Mark Sweet is the dental director for Hawai‘i Dental Service. A recently retired U.S. Army colonel who served in dental roles around the world, Sweet is also board certified in endodontics. In this new role, he will oversee HDS dental consultants and be the primary liaison with Medicare and Medicaid providers.

Joan Lee Husted has been reelected as vice president of the Hawai‘i Education Association board of directors. Formerly the executive director and lead negotiator for Hawai‘i State Teachers Association, Husted is currently commissioner for U.S. Education Commission of the States, vice president of Education Institute of Hawai‘i and secretary of the Punahala board of directors.
Huy Vo is director of marketing communications for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikīkī Beach. He will lead all global strategic marketing communication efforts. Vo has been with The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikīkī Beach since 2015. Under his leadership, it was named O‘ahu’s highest-ranking luxury resort in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2022.
Kristin Chun is vice president of patient care for The Queen’s Health System’s oncology, neurology and laboratory services. She is a health care executive and community collaborator, and was the associate chair of operations for obstetrics, gynecology and women’s health at University Health Partners-Hawai‘i.
