Honolulu Establishes A Sister City
Since 2016, the City & County of Honolulu and Edogawa-ku, Japan, have been coordinating a sister
city affiliation and, at an official signing ceremony held at Kapolei Hale City Hall on June 9, it became official. At the event, Mayor Rick Blangiardi and Mayor Takeshi Saito signed the agreement in the presence of Honolulu City Council Chairman Tommy Waters and senior city government officials from Honolulu, with Edogawa-ku City Council Chairman Mitsuhiro Fukumoto and City Council Vice Chairman Souichi Horie also in attendance. Circus Gives Back To Hawai‘i
Cornell “Tuffy” Nicholas, who’s the owner, producer and director of The Super American Circus, donated $20,000 to Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i as a way to give back to the local community. Organization Supports Native Hawaiians
Kina‘ole Foundation donated $1 million to The Royal Order of Kamehameha I to establish The Na Koa Ali‘i Scholarship, an education endowment fund benefiting young Native Hawaiian scholars interested in pursuing secondary education.
