Bernie Bays is a director with Starn, O’Toole, Marcus & Fisher. He has more than 50 years experience representing clients in more than 150 landmark cases. His focus is complex commercial litigation, real estate and land use law, trusts and estates litigation, and legal malpractice defense. Bays is board certified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and at the Supreme Court of Hawai‘i.
Jocelyn Mills has joined Goodsill, Anderson, Quinn & Stifel as an associate attorney. She will focus on business and corporate law with an emphasis on tax planning. Mills’ experience includes pre-immigration tax planning for foreign individuals, tax compliance and resolving matters before tax authorities. Prior to joining the firm, she was a major in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Blair Suzuki will manage the newly formed janitorial and housekeeping company Koa Restoration & Maintenance. In this role, he will oversee the operations of Premier Restoration, Team Clean and People Who Clean, which together have more than 1,200 employees statewide. Suzuki previously served in the U.S. Navy and worked at Otis Elevator Co. Hawai‘i.

Rebecca Chung is a technology and licensing specialist with University of Hawai‘i’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization. She will work with UH faculty and researchers to translate their innovative discoveries into commercial opportunities and boost entrepreneurship efforts. Chung has a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship from Stevens Institute of Technology.
George Yarbrough has been named director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at University of Hawai‘i’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization. He will develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with local, national and international stakeholders; enhance their research and economic impact; and oversee accelerator and incubator programs.
Kanani Ching has been appointed branch manager and broker-in-charge of Coldwell Banker Realty’s Kapolei office. Ching joined the real estate company’s Diamond Head-Kāhala office as assistant branch manager and broker-in-charge in February. Prior to that, she was a realtor for D.R. Horton’s Ho‘opili development.
