Derek Simon has been promoted to partner in Carlsmith Ball’s Honolulu office. Simon is a member of the law firm’s real estate and development group. His practice focuses on land use, real property and administrative law. Prior to joining Carlsmith Ball in 2016, Simon was a legal extern for U.S. District Court Judge Michael Seabright and Judge Michael Wilson of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court.
Cohco Harbour has been appointed sales manager at The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikīkī Beach. She will spearhead the resort’s wholesale and corporate travel strategies. Harbour has 10 years of experience in the hospitality and travel industry and previously served as front desk manager for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikīkī Beach.
Matt Stevens has been named executive director of the Hawai‘i Work Force Funders Collaborative. Stevens, the founder and president of the Kohala Data Group, specializes in connecting people, processes and data to create sustainable, collaborative initiatives. HWFC was launched by Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, Hawai‘i Community Foundation, HMSA and The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.

Judy Nagai has joined University of Hawai‘i Foundation as senior executive director of campaign planning. She is responsible for leading the overall planning and strategy of UHF’s campaign, and will oversee the corporate and foundation relations team. Prior to joining UHF, Nagai worked at University of the Pacific in California, where she helped the school surpass its $300 million campaign goal.
Matthew Kobayashi is associate director of innovation programs at University of Hawai‘i’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization. He will lead in the formation and development of the UH Ventures fund; manage and provide strategic advice to OIC’s portfolio companies; and market UH technologies to the U.S. mainland and the Asia-Pacific region.
Mallory Papin has been hired as an associate account executive at Atlas Insurance Agency Inc.’s personal line unit. In this role, she will focus on marketing and underwriting new and renewing personal line accounts. Papin brings eight years of insurance industry experience to the team. She holds the professional designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
