Leodoloff Asuncion Jr. has been appointed by Gov. David Ige to lead the state Public Utilities Commission. Prior to joining the PUC in 2019, Asuncion served as planning program administrator at the Office of Planning in the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. He also served as director of the office from 2013 to 2018. His term as head of the PUC expires June 30, 2026.
Dr. Shilpa Patel is chief quality officer for Hawai‘i Pacific Health. Patel joined HPH in 2004 and became its associate chief quality officer last year. She will continue to care for patients at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, as well as mentor the next generation of physicians as a professor of pediatrics at John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Myles Shibata of MSS Consulting LLC has been appointed chairperson of Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce for fiscal year 2022-23. He will ensure the 30-member board is effective in setting and implementing HJCC’s strategy and direction. Shibata has more than 38 years of executive management experience.

Christine Griffin is director of caring at The Queen’s Medical Center. She will lead the effort to create a caring and healing environment for patients and enhance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of employees. Griffin has a Ph.D. in caring science theory from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and helped create a wellness program for staff at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Gary Nip has been named the 87th district governor for Lions of Hawai‘i. He was first inducted into Honolulu Koko Head Lions Club back in 1975 and is the first member of his club to be elected district governor. Nip is a retired supervisory architect with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a graduate of University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and Saint Louis School.
Jaimee Manago has been appointed wholesale account executive at Territorial Savings Bank. Manago has 33 years of experience in the financial industry. She will help promote the bank’s wholesale loan programs and serve its approved mortgage brokers/ lenders. She also is director of Hawai‘i Association of Mortgage Brokers and Professionals.
