Make or Break, a seven-part documentary series streaming on Apple TV+, offers a behind-the- scenes look at the best-of-the-best surfers as they compete on the World Surf League Cham- pionship Tour. Filmed on O‘ahu’s North Shore, the show follows pros like Hale‘iwa’s John John Florence, Kaua‘i’s Tatiana Weston-Webb and this 11-time world champion who was undefeated five consecutive years in the ’90s.
Writer and director Andrew Dominik presents his take on the Marilyn Monroe story with Blonde, which hits Netflix this September. The NC-17 movie stars Ana de Armas as Monroe and reimagines the icon’s professional and personal life. One of the flick’s producers is this Hollywood stud who’s starred in numerous movies such as Fight Club, Moneyball and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Now available on Netflix is Hustle, a feel-good sports movie starring Adam Sandler about an American basketball scout whose luck changes after discovering a potential superstar player overseas. It’s produced by a company founded by Sandler, Happy Madison Produc- tions, which also helped bring comedies like Just Go With It (2011) and Murder Mystery
2 (coming soon) to the screen. Both were filmed in Hawai‘i and star this A-list actress who has an iconic haircut and a lot of “friends.”
Released in theaters 17 years ago this week, George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead stars Dennis Hopper as Kaufman and John Leguizamo as Cholo. The movie is set under the regime of a feudal-like government during a zombie assault in what U.S. city, state?

National Hydration Day
This holiday emphasizes the need to drink water as the key to avoiding heat stroke, dehydration and other dangerous issues. The day was created in honor of late football coach Victor Hawkins, who invented a special hydrating mouthguard to keep his players healthy on the field. SafeTGard, the company that now sells his invention, launched the holiday.
