From historical dramas to contemporary stories, our focus remains the same: plays by Hawai‘i, for and about the people of Hawai‘i.
For more than 50 years, Kumu Kahua Theatre has celebrated a distinct sense of place, dedicated year-round to creating, supporting and showcasing original works of theater related to Hawai‘i and the cultures represented here. At the start of the pandemic, we pivoted programming to produce virtual plays and educational sessions. As the
