Poki‘i Balaz has been named interim executive director of Lunalilo Home. She was formerly director of nursing services, where she served the home’s beneficiaries through its residential services, respite care, adult day care and meals-to-go program. Balaz earned a doctorate in nursing from University of Hawai‘i at Hilo.
Mark Rosenbaum is dean of Hawai‘i Pacific University’s College of Business. He was dean and professor of marketing for Graham School of Management at Saint Xavier University. Rosenbaum will work with the local community on project-based learning opportunities that bring together business leaders, faculty and students to collaborate on real-world projects.
Deborah Mattheus has been appointed as the inaugural Nancy Atmospera-Walch Professor in School Health at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. The endowed professorship was established to increase the academic success of Hawai‘i youth by providing access to health care in public schools. Mattheus will contribute to the efforts of the Hawai‘i Keiki: Healthy & Ready to Learn program.

Eduardo Manglallan is deputy director of harbors for Hawai‘i Department of Transportation. He has served in leadership roles in the U.S. Navy and City & County of Honolulu Department of Facility Maintenance. Manglallan earned his master’s in civil and environmental engineering from University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Kali McDonald has been promoted to client services manager for UHA Health Insurance. In this position, she will oversee the client services team and will be responsible for the development of practices and procedures that will create the best possible experience for all UHA clients. McDonald first joined the company in 2018 as a client services liaison.
Glenn Wakai has been reappointed as honorary consul general of the Republic of Palau to the state of Hawai‘i. He is the current chair of the Senate’s Committee on Economic Development, Tourism and Technology, and vice chair of the Committee on Public Safety, Intergovernmental and Military Affairs. He sits on several boards, including Goodwill Contract Services and Japanese Cultural Center.
