Don’t Look Up started streaming on Netflix Dec. 24. It stars two low-level astronomers, Randall Min- dy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), who go on a media tour to warn of an approaching comet set to destroy Earth. The fifilm also stars Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill and this green-eyed actor who recently played Paul Atreides in science-fifiction fifilm Dune.
Spider-Man: No Way Home brought in $1 billion at the box offiffice — the fifirst movie to do so since the pandemic. Marvel fans have plenty to look forward to with the releases of Doctor Strange in the Multi- verse of Madness (May 6) starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8), written and directed by this New Zealander whose fifilmography spans vampire shows to World War II satires.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Owen Wilson stars in Marry Me, which will be released in theaters and streamed on Peacock on Feb. 11. The music-infused romantic comedy also features Sarah Silverman, John Bradley, Chloe Coleman, Michelle Buteau, Utkarsh Ambudkar and this entertainer/actress who once starred in another movie about wedding
nuptials. Marry Me will also boast original songs by said actress.
Jennifer Beals got her big break after the then Yale student was cast as a welder and dancer in 1983’s Flashdance. Soon after, role offers poured in for the Chicago native, including The Bride (1985), Vampire’s Kiss (1989) and The Grudge 2 (2006). Then, 11 years ago this week, she was cast as the blind mistress, Claudia, in The Book of Eli, which reunited her with Denzel Washington. What mid-’90s neo-noir thriller did they first star in together?
