Excitement is mounting for Netflflix’s live-action production of the beloved series, The Last Airbender. The buzz got even louder with the announcement that Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawai‘i Five-0) has been cast as Fire Lord Orzai. The writer-producer will next get screen time in Nat Geo’s The Hot Zone: Anthrax, which premieres Nov. 28. He shares co-lead status in the series
with this actor who portrayed a ‘Scandal’-lous TV president.
The Theory of Everything Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne has completed Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, with Mads Mikkelsen and Jude Law, which is due out next April 15. He’s currently shooting Netflix’s The Good Nurse about a caregiver tied to the deaths of hundreds of patients. It also stars this actress known for her role as a CIA analyst in Zero Dark Thirty.
It was recently announced that British actress/writer/producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Flea Bag, Killing Eve) exited Amazon’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith series because of “creative differenc- es” with co-star and executive producer Donald Glover. Instead, the Brit has booked a role in
an upcoming untitled fantasy-comedy for Paramount, slated to drop November 2023, created by this American who’s come a long way from his days working at an onscreen desk job.
Quinton Aaron’s first lead role came in the biographical sports drama The Blind Side, which opened in theaters 12 years ago this week. The movie stars Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw as the adoptive parents of Michael Oher (played by Aaron), who overcomes a challenging upbringing to star in the NFL. When Aaron auditioned for the film, he reportedly told producers he’d gladly work in another capacity if he didn’t land the role. What on-the-set job was he willing to do?
