Among the big Tom Cruise films in the can and ready to hit theater screens worldwide is Top Gun: Maverick. Delayed by the pandemic, it will finally arrive May 27. Next up is Mission Impossible 7 with Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby and this actor who fought offff hordes of zombies in the 2004 flflick
Shaun of the Dead. It was also derailed by the virus and now opens Sept. 30.
Eugene Levy, who portrayed Johnny Rose on Schitt’s Creek, has a fresh gig. He’ll be hosting a travel series, The Reluctant Traveler, on Apple TV+. On this show, Levy will introduce viewers to unique travel locales. New things are also on the horizon for another Schitt’s Creek actor, who will be hosting a cooking competition called The Big Brunch for HBO Max.
Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood) has been cast as every little girl’s favorite doll, Barbie, in an upcoming movie. The screenplay was written by Noah Baum- bach (Marriage Story) and Greta Gerwig (Little Women, Lady Bird). The latter will also direct.
Meanwhile, the role of Barbie’s famed husband, Ken, has yet to be named, but was offered to this Hollywood hunk who makes all the ladies visit “la la land” with a single glance.
It isn’t every day that Death is given the leading role in a film, but that’s what happened in the romantic fantasy Meet Joe Black. The film stars Brad Pitt as the human form of Death, and Anthony Hopkins as a media mogul who earns a few extra days of life in return for teaching Death about the human experience. Of course, in learning to be more human, Death falls for the media mogul’s daughter, played by Claire Forlani. Released 23 years ago this week, the movie is loosely based on what 1934 film?
