Loving Family Makes This Dog’s Day
Dear Darah,
You never know when your life will change on you. I had a dog named Topher who is a Po- meranian/bichon mix. He was my cute and not-so-little 18.5-pound doggie. I would take him on walks, play with him, feed and care for him like a son. When I got a notice that I was accepted into flight attendant school, I knew tak- ing care of Topher was going to be a challenge. Once I passed the initial training, my schedule was not my own. I would have to be able to pack my bags and be gone for days at a time and I knew that in-
evitably I would have to part with my beloved Topher.
and I would always be able to visit him and even have him back once I figured out my living situation. To this day, Topher is a happy dog with lots of love in the Auna fami- ly. I really want to thank them for the care they have given him for the past eight years. I visit him often and I know he has an amazing family who is caring for him.

Miss D. has been an angel to me. After 28 years renting the same home in Kaimukī, the owners are selling the property and I had to move. With still no place yet to go, I had to start downsizing. I have no car, and Miss D. picked up four to five cars full of cloth- ing and household items and hauled them to a yard sale for me, worked that sale, then donated what didn’t sell. She even gave me some cash from the sale. She says her church says to give back, and I hap- pened to be the recipient this time. I’m truly blessed! Please recognize Miss D. in “Mahalo Nui” for her good deed.

Miss D. is an angel here on Earth. A friend once told me, “You find out who your true friends are when you have to move” and she is one of those true-blue people. In 2013, I moved into a townhouse in Mililani with two roommates. They helped me when I would be called to work, but in 2014 the own- er of the property decided to sell. It was very difficult for me to find a place that would rent to someone with a pet. During this process, I became very depressed and didn’t know what I would do without Topher. I shared my troubles with my dear friend Lanikai Auna and he said, “Sis, I can help you out. Let me ask my mom and dad.” The next day, he told me their family would take Topher in
