    I still cherish the Raggedy Ann doll my older sister made for me for my seventh Christmas. She would sew it at night when she came home from her part-time job after I went to bed. Instead of the traditional Raggedy Ann red, she used bright yellow yarn for her hair. I named her Sunshine. Yes, decades later, I still have her.

In April of 2020 when the pandemic was really setting in, Beth Betts sent me pho- tos of her beautifully crafted masks that she just started making a few months earlier. Beth called it her “pandemic art spree.” She says she was inspired by the designs of Pacific Northwest Indians but created her masks using her own color themes and used feathers and raffia. I think they look so profes- sional. Something like this
