Counties Declare September As BBBS Hawai‘i Month
Last month, Mayor Rick Blangiardi proclaimed September as Big Brothers Big Sisters Month in Hawai‘i. Gov. David Ige, Kaua‘i Mayor Derek Kawakami and Maui Mayor Mike Victorino joined him with similar proclamations, which served to highlight the important work that the organization does. In conjunction with these announcements, BBBS Hawai‘i promoted Tyler Kurashige to chief operations officer. Leilehua High School Team Wins Culinary Competition
‘Ewa Sweet Onion and ChefZone’s Villa Frizzoni Pasta were two ingredients that high school teams had to incorporate into their menus for Aloun Farms’ Mahi‘ai Culinary Competition. Leilehua High School’s team, comprised of Guylen Shimabukuro (center) and Kapukawai Natividad (right) placed first with their dish: crispy Kaua‘i Shrimp
