Russell Lau is president of Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawai‘i. He serves as chairman and CEO of Finance Factors; CEO, chairman, and president of Finance Enterprises; and CEO and chairman of Finance Insurance, Finance Realty and Waipono Inc. He is also involved with American Judicature Society, Pālolo Chinese Home, St. Andrew’s Priory and more.
Rose Jang (RA) has been appointed an independent agent with Coldwell Banker Realty’s Diamond Head-Kāhala office. Prior to joining the firm, she was an English instructor for non-native speakers at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Jang earned her degree in international relations from Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.
Thomas Pi‘ilani Smith is a planner at G70. In his new role, Smith will assist in the development of environmental and urban planning products, including feasibility studies, master plans, land-use permitting applications and more. Previously, he worked as a graduate research assistant on the ‘Ike Wai Project at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Maribel Avila-Kunkel is vice president of ambulatory care and clinical services at Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i. Her areas of oversight include primary care, specialty care, laboratory, imaging and virtual care. Most recently, Avila-Kunkel was assistant medical group administrator for Kaiser Permanente’s Fontana and Ontario medical centers.
Craig Courts has been appointed president and CEO of Kāhala Nui. He will succeed Pat Duarte, who will retire later this year after leading the organization for more than 13 years. Courts is currently president of Glacier Hills, a life-plan community in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as well as vice president of that city’s Trinity Health Senior Communities.
Gwynn Nakamura is assistant vice president and Kapahulu branch manager at First Hawaiian Bank. She oversees all aspects of branch operations and leads a team of bankers who provide business and consumer clients with personalized solutions to achieve their financial goals. Nakamura brings more than 25 years of financial services experience to her new position.
