12 MIDWEEK MARCH 31, 2021
Whether it was sports games, spring break or even stimulus checks, Las Vegas definitely saw some “March madness” after busi- nesses increased capacity to 50% on March 15. Hotels, casinos, restaurants and even the streets were the fullest they’ ve been since the city reopened last June. What- ever the reason, it seems as though Vegas is getting back to Vegas. So, just what can visitors expect?
A Different March Madness
The author and his wife, Kristine, meet up with comedian John Caparulo, a former headliner at Harrah’s. Caparulo’s show isn’t back yet, but visitors can find him performing at other places, including The Space Las Vegas.

If you’ re planning a trip to the Ninth Island, make sure you pack your patience. With the increase in travel- ers to Vegas, restaurants are starting to see waitlists rang- ing 30-60 minutes.
In addition, more and more shows and programs are continuing to return to Las Vegas entertainment venues, including MJ Live at The STRAT, Terry Fa- tor at New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Australian Bee Gees at Excalibur Hotel & Casino, and Atomic Sa- loon Show at The Venetian.
Slot machines and tables are filling up, so you may have to wait to play your favorite game. If you use ride-share apps like Lyft or Uber, you can expect a de- lay, as well.
Finally, one of our fa- vorite comedians, John Caparulo, is returning to the stage at The Space Las Vegas, and is offering lives- tream tickets online at thes- pacelv.com.
If you don’t want to spend your Vegas vacation waiting, we recommend planning
ahead (see list at right). Despite the increase in tourism, Vegas is still working to maintain a safe environment. Several ca-
sinos require temperature checks upon entry and/or check-in. Masks are re- quired and enforced in all public areas, including out-
door areas like The LINQ Promenade and Fremont Street Experience. Dis- posable masks, hand-san- itizing stations and wipes

 Las Vegas Travel Tips
• Make reservations for restaurants if possible, or look for off-Strip dining options.
• Make reservations for sportsbooks.
• Reserve a cabana or daybed if you’re looking to get in some pool time.
• Travel when it’s less busy. Weekends and holidays
are going to be busier than weekdays.
• Decide where to stay. Downtown is less busy than The Strip.
• Schedule ride-share pickup in advance.
• Don’t wait until the last minute to purchase show tickets.
• Embrace the energy and have fun, as all of this is a sign of Vegas’ continued comeback.
Stickers indicating where to stand in lines, plexiglass at some table games and turned-off machines con- tinue to be implemented for social distancing.
