Dr. Shane Morita has been named chairman of American Cancer Society’s Hawai‘i Guam Area board of directors. He is also vice chief of staff and medical director of surgical oncology at The Queen’s Medical Center, as well as an associate professor of surgery for University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine, where he earned his master’s and doctorate.
John Doronio is director of human resources with Kleenco Group. In his new role, Doronio will manage the company’s employee recruiting, development and retention. Previously, he was the human resources business partner for ProService Hawai‘i, the corporate recruiter for American Savings Bank and the regional human resources manager at Expedia Group.
Ryan Sakuda is government relations director for General Contractors Association of Hawai‘i. He is responsible for working with GCA’s Legislative Committee, monitoring, analyzing and evaluating initiatives by boards and commissions that may affect the construction industry, and more. Previously, Sakuda was deputy chief of staff to state House Speaker Scott Saiki.

Ellie Ventula-Honda is director of American Cancer Society. She brings more than 40 years of experience to the role. Ventula-Honda has a passion for community development, strategic planning, organized fundraising, volunteerism, as well as cultivating and sustaining donor relationships, and has served at all levels over the course of her career.
Rachel James has been named Environmental Lawyer of the Year by Lawyer Monthly magazine. She currently works with Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission as commission counsel. James graduated from University of Hawai‘i William S. Richardson School of Law in 2019, and holds certificates in both Environmental and Native Hawaiian Law.
Mark Ortiz is senior vice president and director of integrated marketing and customer communications with Bank of Hawai‘i. He oversees the bank’s demand generation and integrated customer engagement programs. Previously, Ortiz served as vice president of global digital marketing for C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. , as well as head of North American digital marketing for American Honda Motor Co. Inc.
