He also arranged for public drop-off depots at the KualoaGrown farmers market at Kualoa Ranch, and set up six heavy-duty collection bins at his school that were donated by Reynolds Recycling. So far, he says they’ve collected about 20,000 recyclables.
While Price does the work himself — collecting, sorting, recycling, community out- reach, public relations, etc. — the project has also become a family activity.
Eventually, Price hopes to have Bottles4College collec- tion bins at every school so more kids can pitch in, and to get nonprofit status.

“It’s a lot more than just col- lecting bottles and cans,” adds Maria. “It’s a shared conversa- tion and a way to not only do something together but also make it educational ... and we’re happy about how it all pulls together.”
“(Initially) I wanted a way to help not just me go to college but also help the environment,” says Price, a seventh-grader at King Intermediate School.
