HPU Hosts Economics Event
Hawai‘i Pacific Universi- ty recently hosted the 2023 Hawai‘i State Economics Challenge. More than 40 students from Kalani High School, Maryknoll School and ‘Iolani School were test- ed on their understanding of micro- and macroeconomic principles, and their knowl- edge of international eco- nomics and current events.
There were two divisions — one for advanced place- ment, international bacca- laureate and honors students, and another for first-time competitors.
This year, ‘Iolani School won both divisions and will proceed to the national semi- finals where they will com- pete in a 45-question online quiz. The finals will be held in New York City.

The community-led nonprofit health organization AlohaCare held a blessing ceremony last month to welcome its employees back to the office and to celebrate the grand reopening of its O‘ahu headquarters.
