Roland Leong, a longtime National Hot Rod Association nitro team owner, is known for his Hawaiian-themed cars, which went on to win many victories in the sport. With Don Prudhomme be- hind the wheel, he won both the NHRA Wineternationals and the U.S. Nationals in 1965, then repeated the dou- ble win in 1966, with Mike Sinvely as the driver.
Tita Ahuna has made a name for herself on the vol- leyball court. As captain of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa women’s volleyball team, she led the players to a 1987 NCAA Division I National Championship. She continues to coach girls vol- leyball at Punahou School.

Egan Inoue, a well-known mixed martial arts fight- er, was recognized for his achievement in another arena — racquetball. He is a world champion in the sport. In fact, he made his name in racquet- ball before becoming the first non-Brazilian to win a Brazil- ian jiu-jitsu world title. While many may be familiar with his Bootcamp gyms, he also started his own racket compa- ny, E-force, in 1990.

Finally, Larry Price helped usher UH into Division I football by becoming the first NCAA Division I foot- ball head coach born and raised in Hawai‘i. Off the field, he continued to give back. As chairman of the O‘ahu Interscholastic Asso- ciation Foundation, he devel- oped a self-sustaining fund to support schools’ sports programs.
