Kaimukī resident Daniel Chun was recently recognized for his nearly three decades of support and influence on government affairs in Hawai‘i. Chun has worked to ensure the state recognizes the ways in which architects and design professionals shape his island home and benefit communities. His testimony and lobbying efforts have guided Hawai‘i laws affecting architecture to meet or exceed the nation- al benchmark. Some of the legacy laws he has been instrumental in passing are the establishment of the State Building Code Council, Defense of the Art in Public Places program and Green Building requirements for state buildings using nation- ally-recognized standards ...
