Hero Dog Awards Are Open
Whether they protect us on the battlefield, help us with medical challenges, or just lighten our spirits with an enthusiastic kiss after a hard day, dogs save and improve our lives every day.
The 12th annual Amer- ican Humane Hero Dog Awards campaign is up and running, ready to discov- er and honor four-legged friends across the nation, and East O‘ahu pet owners are welcome to apply.
Those interested can head over to herodoga- wards.org to nominate their heroic and loving pup for 1 of 7 awards: law enforce- ment and detection dogs, military dogs, therapy dogs, service dogs, shel- ter dogs, search and res- cue dogs, and guide/hear- ing dogs. The deadline is March 16.
Once the top canines are chosen, they’ll be invited to a star-studded red carpet awards gala in Palm Beach, Florida, this November during which one of the nominees will be named the American Hero Dog of the year.
