Hawaii Kai Business Focuses on Building Bone Density

When JoLee Hehn was diagnosed with the bone dis- ease, she was heartbroken.
Osteogenic loading uses brief, intensive skeletal pres- suretoimprovebonedensity, strength and balance. Weekly sessions involve a circuit of patented equipment and typ- ically takes 30 minutes. The Hehns refer to this as a bio- hack, as the machines create “trigger events” that elicit an adaptive response in the body, which research has shown to build bone density up to 14% over 12 months, increase agil- ity and decreased joint pain.
“I had visions of my grandmother and the quality of life she had was so sad,” Hehn says. “I didn’t want to go down that road. I started a quest to turn the osteopo- rosis around.”

Dr. Amelia Fong is an Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon. After graduating from Punahou School with honors, she received her bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania (summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa), then returned home to attend the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. She then completed her Ophthalmology training
at the prestigious Georgetown/Medstar Washington Hospital Center, and did her Oculoplastics Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern, where she also served as an associate professor. She and husband Jon reside in Aina Haina with their two rescue puppies. She loves surfing and is currently trying to learn to golf.
