Community Tours Future Wahiawā Value-added Product Development Center
The Wahiawā Value-add- ed Product Development Center is under construction at 1001 California Ave. and is expected to open in Au- gust. Located at the former Tamura’s warehouse, the center is part of a program by Leeward Community College.

The center will house training programs provide participants an opportunity to create new food-related products while learning crit- ical entrepreneurship skills such as marketing, branding, product development, and business management, so they can develop value-add- ed products, which are raw agricultural foods enhanced to have a higher market value or shelf life. Dela Cruz helped secure money for the project in 2017, and University of Ha- waiʻi Community Colleges held a groundbreaking cere- mony for the center in 2021.
