“The people of Wahiawā and Wahiawā General Hos- pital have made it meaning- ful to me,” he adds.
During his long career, McKenzie served on active duty in the Navy, plus the U.S. Army Reserve. Al- though through the years, McKenzie has been affili- ated with several hospitals while working in Hawai‘i, he emphasizes that his pref- erence has always been the family-like attitude found at Wahiawā General Hospi-
A graduate of Kame- hameha Schools, Kojima studied at Indiana Universi- ty, where he completed his undergraduate and medical training. He followed with his obstetrician-gynecol- ogist residency in Flori- da and has been in private practice in Alabama before returning home to Hawai‘i.
A longtime patient of McKenzie, Lucy Pagan, explains, “He’s a very good doctor. He helps take care of people.”
Another patient of his, Marie Abatayo, notes that McKenzie is also very com- munity-oriented.
