Pair Closer To Academy Entrance
Two Central Oahu youths have been nominated to U.S. service academies by U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono. Her office announced the recommendations last month, in order for them to be considered for final appointments for the fall semester of 2013.
“I nominate these young women and men with great pride as they collectively represent the finest qualities Hawaii has to offer,” said Hirono, who will move to a U.S. Senate seat next month, “intelligence, dedication and commitment combined with the aloha and ‘can do’ spirit I know they’ll bring to their future endeavors.”
The nominees are Tomas Sodini of Waialua (Mililani High School) to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and Alexander Neuman of Wahiawa (Leeward Community College and Christian Education Institute) to the U.S. Naval Academy.
