Organik
In 2007, cousins Ed Fernandez and Brian Jones teamed up to start Organik Clothing, a beach lifestyle brand featuring Hawaii and nature-inspired designs on sustainable, organic materials, including blends made from recycled plastic bottles.
With Fernandez’s background as an environmental health specialist and researcher, and Jones’ work experience as a graphic designer and in branding, the pair have combined their passion and talents in creating eco-friendly fashions, including T-shirts, shorts, hats, bags and more.
Originally created in Kailua-Kona, Organik Clothing has since moved its production and distribution to Honolulu. “Our clothing is made in Los Angeles and Honolulu, and hand-dyed and screenprinted by hand in Hawaii,” says Fernandez. “We’ve also collaborated with different companies over the years to make natural rubber, eco-friendly slip-pahs, bags with Iolani Hawaiiana designs, Jams retro-inspired shorts and shirts with local artists Drew Toonz and Lauren Roth.”
Organik Clothing’s most recent collaborations are with Jams World called JWXO, featuring vintage-inspired shorts; and Drew Toonz with designs printed on non-GMO 100 percent cotton, made in the U.S.A. cut and sew tees.
Organik can be found at stores throughout Hawaii, including Community, Jams World, Genius Outfitters, Whole Foods, Happy Haleiwa, Surfline, REBECCA beach at the Kahala Hotel & Resort and the Hifi Coop at Ward Warehouse, as well as online at organikclothing.com.
