Noah
Tisha Lehfeldt
Associate staff pastor at Mountain View Community Church in Kaneohe
Where and with whom did you see the movie?
I saw it at Ward 16 in town with my mom Donna Swayne.
Overall, what did you think?
Being a Christian, it was honestly difficult sitting through the movie at times because the script had Noah struggling with something through the movie that made me think, “That could have not ever happened in the heart of Noah!”
However, after wrestling and thinking about it for the past five days, I now can see that any man or woman could have the same struggle that Noah in the movie faced: fully interpreting what God has called you to do and complete.
Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?
The end was my favorite.
I love movies with reconciliation and redemption in their endings!
On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?
Overall, ★★ .
What did you think of the cinematography?
I loved the colors and angle shots. They did some different creative shots throughout the movie that I have never seen before.
Was the message/theme clear?
Yes, God speaking to man. Man misunderstanding what God has said to do, and man choosing goodness.
Man living in shame from his wrong-doing, then finding mercy and grace from those around him.
Did it remind you of any other works of film?
The visual scenes reminded me of Narnia.
To whom would you recommend this movie?
The movie diverts from the true story in the Bible, in my opinion.
I’ve read many books that have become movies, and most times they stay true to the storyline of the book.
And, if they divert from the storyline, it bothers me as a fan of the book because I think, “That wasn’t in the book!”
So because it is about the Bible story and character of Noah, I would make sure if I did recommend it to people that they fully understood that it is a different storyline than what is found in the Bible.
Did any of the actors stand out?
I love Russell Crowe!
And once again he did an outstanding performance in this movie!
Did you identify with any of the characters?
The Noah in the movie, not the Bible.
I have heard God speak to me about certain things He wants me to do, and my struggle of fully interpreting what and how He wants me to fulfill it.
Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?
I love soundtracks in the movie, but I can say the soundtrack didn’t stand out.
Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?
No.
What’s your favorite movie snack?
Popcorn and peanut M&Ms together!
On a different note, what’s new with you?
Mountain View Community Church has an Easter sunrise service April 20 at 6 a.m. at Kalama Beach Park. I’m overseeing that.
My husband Jason Lehfeldt will be giving the message. There will be a baptism and food following the sunrise service.
Then, also that day, we are having a 10 a.m. Easter service at Kapunahala Elementary School.
