Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

Where and with whom did you see the movie?

The whole family went to see the movie together at Consolidated Ward Center Theatre. My husband Don Belback and our three kids, son Mack James (16), daughter Maggie (14) and daughter Marcie (8) joined me.

Overall, what did you think?

I really enjoyed the movie. I found it to be a sweet and charming show with some fun action scenes and great laughs. It’s a great addition to the Night at the Museum franchise.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

I really got a laugh out of the scene where the neanderthal version of Larry is having a special moment with the female night guard of the British museum (played by Rebel Wilson) whom he was supposed to be guarding. Without giving it away, he ends up with scrunchies in his hair!

On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?

★★★

What did you think of the cinematography?

All of the interior museum scenes were awesome! I am a huge museum lover, so I really enjoyed the visuals of it.

Was the message/theme clear?

This was a coming-of age-story, in some aspects. The father, played by Ben Stiller, is struggling with allowing his son to grow up and become his own man.

Did it remind you of any other works of film?

Not really — this film, with the exception of the other Night at the Museum films, is unique.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

Families, but I wouldn’t recommend taking really young kids as it might not sustain their attention as well as an animated film.

Did any of the actors stand out?

Of course Robin Williams, being this was his last film. It really made watching his charming portrayal of Theodore Roosevelt very heart-touching and bittersweet.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

I did. I identified with the dad (Larry, played by Ben Stiller) as he struggles to let his son grow up and make his own way in the world, since I’m starting to experience those same feelings as our son Mack has started to drive and becomes more grown up each day.

Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?

It definitely helped with the action scenes to add to the tension and excitement.

Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?

Our family loves and owns the previous Night at the Museum movies. So, yes, of course!

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Coke and popcorn.

On a different note, what’s new with you?
