New Veterinarian Is Purrfect Answer For Kapolei Pet Owners
Pet owners and others in the community welcomed Kapolei Pet Hospital to Crossroads at Kapolei Shopping Center during its March 8 grand opening.
“It was really pretty good. We got to meet a lot of people,” said manager Jim Gusloff of the event. “We made a lot of new clients who brought their pets in to see the place.
“There’s not a lot of vet care in this area,” he added. “Kapolei is a growing city, and it’s a good place to live and work.”
Kapolei Pet Hospital has a little bit of everything: dental cleaning, dental X-rays, wellness exams, yearly vaccines, spaying/neutering and microchipping, as well as surgeries.
Gusloff also noted that the facility will start stem cell therapy for animals soon. The project is designed to help pets with arthritis and hip dysplasia.
Japanese speakers will find refuge in the care and expertise of Dr. Yoko Haneda (Gusloff’s wife), a native of Tokyo.
“We do have clients who are transplants from Japan and are a little more comfortable speaking about their pet and the care for their pets in Japanese. That’s another service we can provide,” Gusloff said.
The six-member staff at Kapolei Pet Hospital intends to not only treat furry patients, but to educate and communicate with their humans.
“They leave here knowing exactly what we did, why we did it, and know the general health of their pets,” explained Gusloff, who currently resides in Ewa Beach. “We’re not here to just be an assembly line and get as many pets through the door as possible.
“It’s about giving good service and treating people how we want to be treated.”
The family-owned and operated Kapolei Pet Hospital is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
While the hospital currently is closed Sundays, Gusloff said that the number of appointments and walk-ins Saturdays might lead to an expansion and adjustment of hours to better serve patients.
