New Absolut Art Has Food, Music And More In Haleiwa
Haleiwa is getting Absolut-ly artsy this month. The new July 19 third Friday party at Haleiwa Joe’s restaurant, Absolut Art, features local artists, art classes, a free photo booth, drinks and dancing – all with the backdrop of a North Shore sunset. It’s a monthly event intended to introduce visitors and residents to the area’s creative energy.
“We’ve created a lounge-like atmosphere outside for our guests to enjoy local art among the backdrop of our amazing sunsets on the harbor and live music throughout the night,” said general manager Kanani Oury. “It’s a new way to experience the arts by doing and seeing with local creators, and is such an inclusive, mellow party.”
The event starts at 6 p.m. and is free until 10 p.m., upon which the event becomes a 21-and-over after-party with a $10 door cover. After-party admission can be purchased for half price anytime during dinner hours.
Events include: Create an island-inspired masterpiece (all supplies provided); live art by Ohana and exhibitions featuring local artists Davesaction, evolve1, Ckaweeks, Kayuh, Dmize225, TSG, Whosmat, Garydrawsfish, Bothersome, Fablab808; free photo booth portraits; live music by the Make Shifts and Etivise; and a late-night happy hour from 10 p.m. to midnight.
