Music To Jazz Up Pineapple Fest Saturday
The Betty Loo Taylor and Tommy James trios will headline the third annual Wahiawa Jazz Festival, set to entertain fans from 2 p.m. Saturday at Wahiawa District Park.
The third annual jazz fest is part of the town’s free Pineapple Festival, put on by Wahiawa Historical Society to honor the area’s agricultural heritage, including the decades when it was considered the island’s pineapple capital.
The 11th annual Wahiawa Pineapple Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 17, featuring dozens of booths selling crafts, produce, orchids and food.
Also planned are cultural and historical exhibits, keiki rides and games and a performance by the Iliahi Elementary School Ukulele Band. Someone who can capture the spirit of the day will be crowned best-dressed pineapple in a noon competition.
