MRIs, Biopsies At Waipio Outpatient Center

The Radiology Group Inc. recently announced that it will open a free-standing outpatient imaging center, Advanced Medical Imaging, at Waipio Shopping Center.

AMI, which is set to open next month, will be the first of its kind – a non-hospital-based outpatient imaging center – in West Oahu. It will offer MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, breast biopsies and X-rays.

“The opening of this center marks a critical step forward in supporting the health of these growing communities,” stated Dr. Ryan Albritton, medical director for AMI. “Among the services we are most enthusiastic to bring these communities is our new ultra-high field 3.0 Tesla MRI, which will have the ability to image patients in great detail for more precise evaluation and diagnosis. It is our hope that area residents will enjoy reducing their travel time to receive top-quality, outpatient medical imaging in a convenient and comfortable spa-like setting closer to home.

“We conducted several feasibility studies which showed that the area population would support one new outpatient center in addition to keeping the hospital programs whole,” noted Albritton. “Our group is intertwined in the medical community on Oahu.

“It is very important to us that we not only help to increase outpatient services to this underserved community, but that we do so in a way that preserves the greater good for the medical community in this area.”
