Mighty Mo Gives Pier-side Tour
Following the government shutdown, the Battleship Missouri Memorial has been offering special tours from its pier, which is located a few hundred feet away from the USS Arizona Memorial.
The free tour experience includes an interpretive presentation about the attack on Pearl Harbor and the sinking of the USS Arizona.
“We want to ensure continued access for our guests to see the Mighty Mo, while also supporting the expectations of visitors who came here to see the USS Arizona Memorial,” said Michael A. Carr, president and COO of the Battleship Missouri Memorial. “Our pier offers the best possible vantage point from land, and our tour guides will provide a very informative presentation about the USS Arizona Memorial and its place in our nation’s history.”
The Battleship Missouri Memorial currently is operating as normal from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lots and ticket booths are closed during the government shutdown. Complimentary shuttle service near the Arizona Visitor Center provides round-trip transportation to the Battleship Missouri Memorial and Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor.
Tickets are not required for the pier-side tour. Visitors also will have access to the Missouri’s gift shop and food vendors.
