Merry Merchants Plan ‘Kailua Kine’ Night

Kaneohe Ranch will sponsor a holiday open house beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday to support its retail community and entertain shoppers on a “Kailua Kine Christmas” theme.

Planned for the evening are live music, artist trunk shows, refreshments and special discounts at Global Village, Island Treasures, Mary Z’s, Red Bamboo, Sand People, Under a Hula Moon and others.

At the same time, Kailua Chamber of Commerce’s Light Up Kailua promotion may “light up” a few wallets as well, between now and Dec. 27. While encouraging merchants to decorate and illuminate their shops, the effort has attracted a dozen businesses to join in a lucky drawing for $300 worth of gift certificates.

Visitors to the participating stores must request an entry blank and obtain six different stickers from each business (no purchase required). Entries should be dropped off by Dec. 27 to the KCOC’s Kailua Information Center, and the drawing will follow Dec. 28.

These “Light Up” businesses include A Cup of Tea, Yogurt Mama, My Girlfriend’s Closet, Round Table Pizza, Whole Foods Market (customer care counter), Knight’s Isshin-Ryu Karate, Island Treasures, Kailua Information Center, The Bike Shop, Maya Bella Boutique, Twogood Kayaks Hawaii and Red Bamboo.
