May Ocean Awareness Training
East Oahu residents can get trained in ocean awareness right here in Hawaii Kai, across from the ocean.
Marine conservation groups have joined together to present training sessions in May at the NOAA Sanctuary conference room in Hawaii Kai Corporate Plaza, and those who complete all four classes (which includes a field trip to Waikiki Aquarium) earn certification from C.O.R.A.L. (Care of our Culture, Oceans, Reefs and Animal Life).
Topics covered include marine ecology of the Hawaiian Islands, protected species, threats to coastal and marine environments, and marine life identification. Training is set for 6 to 9 p.m. May 9 and 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 and 6 to 9 p.m. May 22.
Registration closes April 30, if not filled up prior to that date. For more information, call 397-2651.
