May Is Chamber Music Month: Come On Down
Chamber Music Hawaii is joining hundreds of programs across the country in May to observe National Chamber Music Month.
For Windward Oahu fans, the best place to be is Paliku Theatre, 7:30 p.m. May 13 for the CMH Tresemble concert.
The event is a small ensemble performance of strings, winds and harp in various combinations, featuring music from Backofen, Francaix, Ravel, Respighi and Roussel. Chamber music is defined as “ensembles of two to 10 members, playing one to a part and generally performing without a conductor.”
The CMH “tresemble” of seven musicians draws from its Galliard String Quartet, Honolulu Brass Quintet and Spring Wind Quintet. Special guest May 13 is harpist Connie Uejio.
Tickets cost $25 and $20 at the door and are free to students. To order in advance, call 489-5038.
