Mary Sakamoto Wins A $150 Spree At Foodland

On Friday, Mary Sakamoto wanted potato chips and ice cream, and to check out the weekend specials at Foodland, so she took a trip to the Market City location.

As she left the store at 1 p.m., MidWeek‘s representative approached Mary with a simple question. She answered correctly and instantly won a $150 Foodland shopping spree.

“I like shopping at Food-land because the people are nice,” said this week’s Mystery Shopper, a retired insurance office clerk. “Also, I come here every week, so I know where everything is.”

Mary was born and raised in Kaimuki, and graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1948. A widow, she has four grown sons and five grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys gardening. She also likes to read Mid-Week.

“I love everything — I read it from front to back,” she said. “Of course, the coupons help, too. And I like reading Ron Nagasawa’s column.”
