Market Launches ‘Eat, Buy Local’ Campaign

Kunia Shopping Center and Mahiku Farmers Market are collaborating on a “buy local, eat local” campaign that will stage four Friday markets starting next week at the center’s middle level.

Market days will run from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, 14 and 21 behind Denny’s, offering fresh local produce, food products, crafts and merchant promotions for shoppers. Sonny Doung’s Mahiku Farmers Market and his vendors also operate in Kailua, Kaneohe and Waikiki, among other sites.

Shopping center officials invite residents to attend the market, stay and eat dinner, or order takeout from its selection of restaurants. There also will be a table with rewards of Kunia Kash ($10 of credit at participating shops) in exchange for merchant receipts.
