Marching Bands To Battle It Out
Three West Oahu high schools will join six other bands at the 39th annual Oahu Marching Band Festival, set to begin at 5 p.m. Nov. 3 at Aloha Stadium.
The bands each will do an 8to 10-minute marching routine and be evaluated by judges, who also will share comments on how to improve their performance. Participating are Aiea, Kapolei, Farrington, Radford, Roosevelt, Castle, Mililani and Moanalua high schools, as well as Pearl City High, which sponsors the event along with the state Department of Education and Finance Factors.
“For decades, the festival has showcased the impressive talent of hard-working students and directors from across the island,” stated Finance Factors president and COO Steven Teruya. “At Finance Factors, we are dedicated to giving back to our local community, and are thrilled to again support this event and performing arts programs in our public schools.”
The public is welcome to attend. Tickets cost $7 and $5 at the gate, and children age 4 and under will be admitted free. Proceeds support the school bands. For more information, call PCHS bands director Chad Kamei at 454-5655.
