Mall Hosts Showcase For Public Schools
The “five Rs” can be fun, and Castle Complex schools will make sure of it at their 5Rs Festival of Fun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Windward Mall.
The schools, all 10 of them, will recognize students for demonstrating respect, responsibility, resourcefulness, relationships and resilience in their lives and in the community, and Castle High School seniors will exhibit their senior projects to the public. Games and activities are planned for the public, along with entertainment by Hawaii Loa, the Kahaluu Ukulele Band and Waiahole Elementary students.
In 2004, the complex adopted a framework for positive behavior support it named Five Rs, which has since been developed into a community-wide effort to share a common language to help children grow up to be drug-free, good citizens. In addition to the abovementioned schools, the complex includes King Intermediate and Ahuimanu, Heeia, Kapunahala, Ben Parker, Kaneohe and Puohala elementary schools.
