Lights, Music At Boat Parade
Hawaii Kai Marina Community Association’s yearly boat parade will move through the marina waterway Dec. 15, bringing with it a magical, glowing evening of entertainment with some audience participation: The first 1,000 attendees will receive a complimentary Blinky Light Pin.
The Festival of Lights Christmas Boat Parade will run from 4:30 to 8 p.m. with dockside music by the Liberty Belles at 4:30 and the area’s favorite band, Maunalua, at 5 p.m., sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, and staged at Hawaii Kai Towne Center.
But the highlight of it all will be the decorated boats, which compete for prizes in three size categories and “best overall.” They should arrive in front of the town center crowds around 6 p.m. According to marina manager Beverly Liddle, the 16th annual water pageant is a growing success “because of the enthusiasm and efforts of its participants.”
